More than 70 years after the famous Hitchcock adaptation…
DreamWorks is currently planning to adapt Daphne du Maruier's 1938 novel Rebecca for the big screen. This will be the second time this story has been adapted, the first being the famous Alfred Hitchcock film in 1940.
The story revolves around a young woman who marries a widower and moves into his mansion, only to find that the memory of his first wife still haunts him and their servants.
The 1940 version starred Joan Fontaine and Laurence Olivier.
Steven Knight, who wrote the screenplays to Dirty Pretty Things and Eastern Promises, has been hired to provide the new screenplay.
